Good to know! I signed-off from Firefox after deletion of the two files (incidentally, I am using Windows 8.1) and apparently the search engine did rebuild itself upon the next reboot but guess what?
After running the suggested Anti-malware software and listing the results, this one item came up on AdwCleaner to remove.
